As many of you know, SugarWOD and CrossFit® go way back.
SugarWOD was originally created because our founder, Drew Larsen, joined a CrossFit gym and had a positive experience. After a few years in CrossFit, he decided he wanted to create something new that would enhance the community and bring athletes, coaches, and gym owners together.
The Story of SugarWOD & CrossFit
When Drew stepped into his local CrossFit gym in 2009, he was just looking to get back in shape — nothing fancy. But to his surprise, he was welcomed with open arms into a supportive community that motivated him and took his fitness seriously. His wife, Shayna, soon joined him, and they were thrilled with the results they saw.
Eventually, they ended up moving and joining another box in 2012, where they had a very similar experience. That was when Drew knew he needed to contribute to the CrossFit community.
The couple leveraged Drew’s tech knowledge and Shayna’s design prowess to build a tool that would help athletes track their workouts and gym owners and coaches streamline their scheduling. Thus, SugarWOD was born!
SugarWOD’s Current Relationship With CrossFit
Since our humble beginnings, our community has grown to over 6,000 box owners. We’re so proud of that number.
While we welcome all types of fitness businesses and athletes to use our app and software, we’ve never lost sight of our CrossFit roots. That’s why we’re so excited to return to the 2021 CrossFit Games and reconnect with the larger community after the chaos of last year.
What SugarWOD Will Be Doing at the CrossFit Games
The SugarWOD team will be on-site from July 27 through Aug. 1. We’ll be sharing a booth in Vendor Village with our sister brands, UpLaunch and Zen Planner, and spending time in the Affiliate Lounge over the course of the week.
Here’s some other fun stuff we’ll be doing:
- Challenge workouts (with prize raffles)
- Swag giveaways
- Welcome boxes for affiliate owners
- Software deals and product discounts
- Live demo sign-ups
- And more!
