A Team Effort
Serving a community as passionate and diverse as ours requires a group of smart and dedicated people!
We’ve combined what we’ve learned from 10 years in the CrossFit community and across 1000s of boxes to build SugarWOD. When we started, we wanted to build a workout tool that helped athletes have the best workout of their life, every day. We’ve evolved to support all the core elements of a box—Coaching, Community, and Class. The Back Story
We work together to make a difference in world of fitness.
As SugarWOD’s fearless leader, this guy lives and breathes the CrossFit community. Half geek and half business guy, Drew is passionate about connecting online and affiliate fitness communities. Prior to SugarWOD, Drew co-founded a social selling software company in Chicago. He likes to squat clean, but hates rope climbs. When he’s not building software or talking to customers, he’s working out at CrossFit Roots, practicing Jiu Jitsu, and hassling his kids.
If you’re a fan of the SugarWOD brand, you can give Shayna a fistbump. As the second-half of the founding team, Shayna is the artistic director. She’s a photographer and painter and the ultimate care-taker—providing the SugarWOD team with delicious paleo treats to keep their bellies full and minds fresh. When she’s not making everything beautiful, she’s CrossFitting, taking care of two awesome kids, and hiking with Bear.
Courtney is SugarWOD’s first employee hire and she knows SugarWOD! Initially brought on to tackle customer support, she now heads up SugarWOD Marketing as the Brand Manager. She started CrossFit back in 2013 and has volunteered at the CrossFit Games twice! Outside of the her days at SugarWOD, Courtney’s hitting up class at CrossFit Roots and hanging with her two floofs 🐶🐶
Elisa has always had a passion for health and fitness. After finding CrossFit in 2013, she fell in love with the sport and the community it had to offer. She’s been involved with CrossFit in some capacity ever since- from coaching athletes to competing at Regionals. She brings that love for health and fitness to SugarWOD as the Partnerships Manager, where she works closely with the Partners in the SugarWOD Marketplace. When she’s not working you can find her exploring the outdoors, consuming coffee, and working on her fitness.
This guy is a bonafide nerd. When he’s not digging around in databases and typing 1s and 0s at SugarWOD, he’s designing board games. He’s been CrossFitting for 11 years and started in Ann Arbor, MI at HyperFit (where Julie Foucher trained. Swoon 🙂) before he moved to Boulder and joined the CrossFit Roots community.
If we listed all the CrossFit creds on Nicole, we’d be here all day. So, we’ll just point you here. As co-owner of CrossFit Roots, Nicole provides on-the-ground, thoughtful coach and gym owner experience to our customers. To say she’s passionate about coach’s and community development would be an understatement, which is why she’s the perfect Gym Ambassador for SugarWOD gyms—offering her unique insight into affiliate business realities.
Our international flair is helped by Andy, an Irishman who has found a home in Colorado. Andy is everything Customer Experience and Product and always trying to think of innovative ways to improve both himself & the digital experience here at SugarWOD. Andy found Crossfit in 2010 after one or two too many soccer and rugby injuries and has been happily redlining since. In his spare time he coaches at Crossfit Castle Rock and attempts to keep up with his two young daughters.
As an early adopter of the SugarWOD iOS app, Sam has been getting his sugar fix since 2012. CrossFit introduced him to many things to get better at but he took to Olympic Weightlifting. You’ll find him on the platforms when there’s a local meet. Outside of the gym (when he’s not writing code) he spends his time hiking in Boulder and chasing after his two daughters.
Bear mercilessly prowls the SugarWOD offices attending marketing, customer or technical meetings whenever he darn well feels like it.
